She is so passionate about her cause that it has led to attacks against other celebrities, including Rihanna (who she labeled a “porn singer”) and Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg – she even defends Sati, the practice where widows are burned at funeral pyres after the funeral procession has passed by!
Ranaut’s pro-Hindu nationalist views have drawn the ire of Indian media outlets. She was quoted as claiming that India only gained true independence after the BJP took power in 2014.
This is an unfortunate development for a woman who once advocated for equality and justice, yet her partisan views and ideas have transformed her into an advocate of hate speech and violence, supporting Hindu supremacist causes. It’s time for her to reconsider her political beliefs and withdraw from extreme right-wing politics.
