Lenovo’s Legion Go offers an unconventional take on handheld gaming. Equipped with AMD Ryzen Z1 processors, this device was created to compete with Nintendo’s Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally devices.
The Legion Go stands out from competitors by featuring detachable controllers, giving it an advantage in terms of battery efficiency. Unfortunately, however, it’s not battery friendly in comparison with competing offerings.

Lenovo has officially entered the handheld gaming console market with their Legion Go device, setting themselves as competitors against Valve’s Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and Asus ROG Ally (Review).
This monitor boasts an 8.8-inch QHD+ IPS touchscreen with 144Hz refresh rate and 97% DCI-P3 color gamut. Powered by an AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor and running Windows 11 Home with Legion Space software, this device also comes equipped with detachable controllers for an even more immersive experience.
The device comes in Shadow Black color and costs EUR 799 or approximately Rs. 70,000 in EMEA markets. It will be available for purchase beginning November this year and features up to 2TB expandability via a microSD card slot.
Rishi Alwani, a video game journalist and gaming industry insider, has hinted at Lenovo Legion Go’s possible launch in India in March 2024. He posted a screenshot from X (formerly Twitter), where his interaction with Shanthosh Somasunthar included a reply from their Instagram handle stating, “Lenovo Legion Go is expected to launch March 2024” though this could simply be miscommunication or confusion on their behalf.

The Legion Go is an ultraportable gaming PC that packs all the power of desktop PC gaming into a handheld device that’s convenient and portable. Equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor, its global debut at IFA showcase event in September was followed by EMEA markets receiving their release this month; Lenovo has yet to disclose when Indian markets would see it come online but response from their Legion India Instagram page indicates this may occur as early as March 2024.
Lenovo’s Legion Go microsite details key specifications that match its global variant. This includes an 8.8-inch QHD+ touchscreen display capable of supporting resolutions up to 1600p and refresh rates of 144Hz, protected by Gorilla Glass with 97% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and 500 nits brightness; additionally it will come bundled with AR glasses which can be worn alongside detachable controllers for optimal gameplay experience.
Lenovo’s Legion Go will run on Windows 11 Home with Legion Space software to provide access to gaming platforms and stores. In addition, three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate access are also included for players that own any Windows game on the device.

One of the unique aspects of this device is its FPS Mode, enabling you to detach your right controller and use it as a mouse – making your experience much more playable while not offering as many convenience features as using your laptop keyboard and mouse directly.
Rishi Alwani of reliable video game journalism shared a screenshot from a conversation between Lenovo Legion India’s customer support and an X user inquire about their console’s launch window in India. Although their representative responded that it will be available starting March 2024, they also made reference to it as “laptop”, suggesting an inadvertent mistake or miscommunication may have occurred.
Lenovo Legion Go Availability
Lenovo recently made waves in handheld gaming consoles when it introduced their Legion Go, debuting it last September and designed to rival devices such as Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally and Razr Edge. Though currently only available globally, a report by video game journalist Rishi Alwani indicates it may soon make its way onto Indian shores as well.
Alwani shared on X that Lenovo Legion India Instagram page has hinted at a possible March 2024 release date for their gaming handheld, according to their response to user inquiries about availability in India. Note: However, that page refers to gaming handheld as laptop which could either be misinterpreted or intentional.
