Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
India are likely to maintain their winning combination after winning both games; however, Jadeja may make his comeback into the team against England.
India needs to add variety to their bowling attack as their bowler Jasprit Bumrah relies too heavily. Therefore, they may consider playing left arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav instead of Washington Sundar.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal | Kuldeep Yadav
Indian spinners have been impressive, particularly Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who have taken regular wickets but lack a partnership that will take India to a comfortable total. Shreyas Iyer and Kedar Jadhav need a quickfire fifty to give their side an effective platform in the final 10 overs.Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
Jadeja had started off well, picking up singles while placing the ball into gaps with ease and picking a few singles off his bat before becoming reckless with an attempt at cutting to right-handed boundary and abandoning what could have been an impressive innings. His failure was an opportunity for New Zealand to gain the upper hand; Jadeja should have done better.Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
WICKET – New Zealand faltered after Martin Guptill’s brilliant 79, his departure resulting in poor shot selection that ultimately crumbled under pressure and brought their innings to a standstill.Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
Kuldeep will likely feature prominently against Windies when Bhuvneshwar Kumar returns after an absence while Jadeja is left out of the side. Kuldeep will replace Washington Sundar on an expectedly turny Vizag pitch; Axar Patel joins this mix for the series against them with three spinners-two pacers combination; while some young Windies players such as Brandon King, Khary Pierre, Sherfane Rutherford and Hayden Walsh Jr have also been included alongside Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo among them.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal | Jadeja Dube
India lost their last T20I at home with poor batting despite flashes of brilliance from individuals, compounded by over-reliance on Jasprit Bumrah for wickets – something which will remain an area of concern going forwardKuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube both made significant contributions towards Chennai Super Kings’ victory at last year’s IPL final at Chepauk, Chepauk. Jadeja won Player of the Match honours while Dube contributed vital runs in the late overs to help his side seal victory.Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal
Jadeja got off to an impressive start as he struck an exceptional short ball from Varun Aaron for six. Soon thereafter he struck again off Mitchell Marsh and hit another six.
Unfortunately, Jadeja was dismissed for 21 runs off 16 balls as he missed out on scoring his three-ball fifty. Playing without MS Dhoni who is out with shoulder pain did not help either and Jadeja played a risky cut shot off Moeen Ali that resulted in him being caught at backward point in the next over.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal | Shikhar Dhawan
On Thursday in Kolkata, the selection committee will have much to discuss when they convene under MSK Prasad’s direction. One area they may explore is Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan’s workloads: each has played 25 ODIs and 11 T20Is this year.
Dhawan has struggled in one-day internationals (ODIs) of late, and his form is starting to diminish under pressure. If he wants a spot at this year’s World Cup in England and Wales, Dhawan must up his game if he hopes for selection back into his national side.
Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel all face stiff competition for two middle-order spots in India’s batting lineup, with all three players jostling for selection.
Axar Agarwal’s performance in the Indian Premier League has earned him his maiden selection to India squad and will have no doubt impressed selectors with his display against Delhi Capitals in Chennai’s win.
Kuldeep Yadav can make an argument for his return to national cricket following his impressive performances in three IPL matches this season and their support from Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel. Kuldeep could replace either Jadeja or Hardik depending on opposition conditions and opposition strength.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal | Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be fit for the next match, though India might rest him during the first three matches in this series. With six games already under his belt and six still to come in this matchup, India must carefully manage his workload.
Jasprit Bumrah might get rested for the next two games as well. After bowling over 104.5 overs across Tests and ODIs in South Africa, his workload management must remain of top priority in India’s team – giving Jasprit an extended rest period would only do him good.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel could also receive a recall. The left-arm spinner has shown promise both in nets practice and against Bangladesh in warm-up matches; his return could fill in for Ravindra Jadeja who has struggled since joining the IPL.
Kedar Jadhav made an unwise attempt at cutting off a full delivery from Tim Southee, only for it to land safely in Henry Nicholls at cover and allow India to lose their second wicket with only five runs on board. Jadhav’s reckless shot cost them their second wicket at only 5 runs scored while they continued struggling against run rate; currently sitting at 167/8 after 20 overs, they must finish off this innings to win this matchup.
