Director S Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan join forces again for the sequel to their 1996 blockbuster Indian. Despite several challenges along the way, they continue their work towards its completion.
On the occasion of Kamal’s birthday, his Makkal Needhi Maiam political party and fans hosted an elaborate event. Kamal offered his well wishes and discussed issues concerning Tamil cinema as part of the discussion panel.
At Kamal’s request, he made an unexpected announcement regarding Indian 2’s sequel: it will set the stage for Indian 3, covering topics discussed regularly among his party. To their great pleasure, everyone applauded warmly at this surprising news!
The sequel will be split into two parts and will hit theaters beginning July of 2024. Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy in this film alongside Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar Nedumudi Venu Vivek as supporting cast. Anirudh Ravichander serves as composer.

Indian 2 will finally hit theaters on July 12, 21 years after its original release in 1996. Kamal Haasan reprises his role of Senapathy, an idealist who battles corruption. Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies produced it, featuring an ensemble cast consisting of Kajal Agarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, SJ Suryah Bobby Simha Vivek Priya Bhavani Shankar Brahmanandam along with Delhi Ganesh Kalidas Jayaram and Gulshan Grover in key roles respectively. The project was first announced during the finale of Bigg Boss Tamil in 2017 but later changed hands to Lyca Productions after Dil Raju pulled out due to personal reasons. Filming had originally scheduled to commence in 2019, however an accident on set injured multiple crew members and postponed production until 2022 when shooting resumed with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in Game Changer as leads.
The movie will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and its makers have released a teaser of it showing corrupt officials being pursued by Indian 2. We expect that soon thereafter its trailer will also arrive; its teaser has already caused quite an uproar among fans and film enthusiasts, suggesting it could become a blockbuster film.

This third film in the Indian franchise will continue the story from where Indian 2 left off, featuring Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Delhi Ganesh Samuthirakani and Bobby Simha as leading actors and music composed by Anirudh Ravichander for Lyca Productions’ high-budget project.

Indian 2 is an anticipated sequel to Kamal Haasan and Shankar’s 1996 classic Indian. Starring Haasan as Senathipathi – an anti-corruption vigilante who takes on corrupt businessmen and politicians – its trailer debuted today at 7 PM with powerful performances by Haasan himself as Senathipathi himself, promising an enjoyable viewing experience for audiences everywhere. The first official look will premiere June 25, with more information being made available soon about when to expect its release date and price point.
The trailer opens with a montage of crimes and scams taking place in India, along with an in-depth voiceover highlighting its many challenges such as unemployment, heavy tax burdens and lack of basic facilities. Siddharth then appears and poses questions as to what people are doing about these issues – he eventually seeks advice from Senapathy (his childhood hero).
Indian 2 looks set to continue where its predecessor left off with multiple action sequences and an intense theme of corruption. Starring Kajal Aggarwal, Bobby Simmha, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Brahmanandam alongside composer Anirudh Ravichander who previously collaborated with Haasan on Enthiran as composer, Indian 2 promises an explosive action-thriller experience!
Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies collaborated to produce this movie, while Sree Gokulam Movies distributed it in Kerala. Filming began in 2019, however due to unforeseen setbacks like an accident on set and COVID-19 restrictions it faced numerous delays; eventually being released for public consumption on July 12, in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions.
