Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold unveiled an unusual celebration after Jude scored England’s winning goal against Serbia at Euro 2024 qualifying. Both players dropped to one knee with faces covered, an allusion to “wolf”, one of many card games used by England squad members.

As a symbol of their humility and admirable character, this unique gesture has earned them fans’ adoration and popularity. But why? What’s behind it all?

Wolf Jude Bellingham (born 29 June 2003) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Real Madrid and the England national team.

Bellingham made his England senior squad debut for the first time against Republic of Ireland at Wembley, replacing Mason Mount after 73 minutes in their 3-0 victory – becoming one of England’s youngest ever players at 17 years and 136 days!

After the 2022 World Cup, Bellingham established himself as a regular in Dortmund’s starting lineup, scoring six goals over seven starts in the Bundesliga and being recognized with Germany Under-21 Player of the Year and coming second to Pedri in 2023 Kopa Trophy voting (an award given annually to best male under-21 footballer worldwide voted by previous Ballon d’Or winners).

On 14 September, Bellingham made his DFB-Pokal debut for Dortmund against third-tier MSV Duisburg and scored their second goal en route to a 5-0 victory. This made him Dortmund’s youngest ever goalscorer – taking just eight days off Giovanni Reyna’s record and five days ahead of Nuri Sahin himself! Additionally, he received Bundesliga Rookie of the Month honors for September.

Bellingham was one of two players for Dortmund to start both of its initial four competitive matches of 2022-23 season, alongside teammate Marco Reus. He started most but one match, including an overtime victory against Stuttgart that featured an assist and goal himself! In this contest he scored both goals; assist number one was from him before scoring stoppage time winner!

Bellingham began his 2023-24 season against Werder Bremen and scored both of the club’s goals – including an exquisite skilfully curved shot after halftime – helping Dortmund secure both goals during their derby against Bayern Munich on 4 December. Bellingham then claimed referee Felix Zwayer had previously been involved with match-fixing schemes.
