Next Cricket Coach

Gautam Gambhir, currently mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders and Rahul Dravid’s likely replacement, has emerged as an early contender to step into Rahul Dravid’s position; however, due to conflicts of interest he may not be able to accept it.

His belief in teamwork is undisputed; individuals cannot take all the credit. Additionally, he has become well known for supporting talents – an essential trait in a national coaching position. Next Cricket Coach

Next Cricket Coach VVS Laxman

Gautam Gambhir is generally seen as the frontrunner to become India’s new coach after Rahul Dravid completes his tenure after the T20 World Cup concludes, however there are other candidates vying for this job such as former India batsman VVS Laxman who currently serves as chairman of the National Cricket Academy. Laxman has experience acting in this capacity, having served as stand-in coach for the Indian team on various occasions when Dravid or another coach took a break. Furthermore, Laxman was part of the NCA coaching set-up and is familiar with its workings and processes for senior Indian cricketers. Next Cricket Coach

Laxman has an intimate knowledge of the current crop of players, understanding both their strengths and weaknesses – something which will work to his advantage as he attempts to form an intermediary bridge between old guard players and emerging talent. Next Cricket Coach

Reports in TOI indicate that Laxman is willing to step into this role full-time; however, he must first convince BCCI of his capability. Travel may be required from time to time when India plays marquee red-ball series abroad; for this reason he hasn’t applied yet for this post. Next Cricket Coach

Gambhir appears to be set for his appointment as India’s next coach with virtually every interview already conducted by the BCCI-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee and undergone his first round. Next Cricket Coach Ashish Nehra

As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) evaluates candidates to replace Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach, one name that has surfaced is that of Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir was recently interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee and appears as a frontrunner to take over from WV Raman.

Left-arm seamer from Delhi has long been recognized for his bowling talent on an international stage, especially his performance at the 2003 World Cup. For some time he played an integral part of India’s pace attack until Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan took over as primary pace threats.

Nehra had an aggressive side-on action and could generate plenty of swing and seam movement with ease, helping him play in 249 One Day Internationals for India with 31 wickets at his disposal.

The 42-year-old mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders for some time and enjoyed a successful IPL campaign. When discussing whether or not he would become India’s next coach, he indicated he isn’t looking too far ahead; currently in a happy space and looking forward to making more contributions as a coach in due course. In terms of treating all members equally and prioritising team over individual milestones.

Next Cricket Coach Gautam Gambhir

Delhi southpaw Anil Kumble won his IPL title with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and is widely recognized as a fierce competitor both on and off the field, and as an excellent leader. His approach to cricket may serve India well.

Gambhir was an integral member of India’s 2007 World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup victories. At 38 years old, he made his political debut by running for Lok Sabha elections under Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi East ticket in 2019. Since then he has become an outspoken commentator on social media regarding issues of national significance and often voiced opinions publicly on important subjects such as poverty alleviation.

Although Gambhir may have no formal coaching experience before his time with Kolkata Knight Riders, his role as mentor over these past two seasons has shown his worth and led them into both IPL Playoffs. Under Gambhir, both seasons advanced further under IPL rules – something the BCCI would take note of closely.

Gambhir will need an effective coaching staff at his side if he hopes to assume India’s reins, and Jonty Rhodes – currently involved with LSG as their fielding coach this season – has long been associated with that role. Rhodes knows what it takes to win big games from having played alongside Gambhir before.
