BMW iX Facelift Spotted Testing | Best BMW Ever ? | Upcoming Car in 2024 ?

BMW iX Facelift

BMW plans on giving their iX model a midlife refresh, which should include more powerful versions such as the xDrive45, xDrive60 and M70 variants.

Spy shots show that the interior of the iX may feature a curved infotainment setup with twin 14.5-inch displays, likely replacing its shifter with a button.

BMW iX Facelift Exterior

BMW’s quirky iX electric SUV has only recently been on sale, and is already due for an update. Munich-based firm BMW is planning a mid-cycle facelift to give it new looks and upgraded technology. Camouflaged prototypes spotted during testing appear similar to its current look but with tweaked lighting systems and 48V mild hybrid tech for increased efficiency.

BMW may add new bumpers and possibly an updated grille that matches those seen on its all-electric cars, such as the latest i8. Additionally, the rear of the vehicle may feature updated lights to improve its overall aesthetics.BMW iX Facelift

Inside, the facelift iX may see an infotainment system similar to those found in the i4 and iX models – this will feature twin 14.5-inch displays running BMW’s latest iDrive software.BMW iX Facelift

Last year, Carwow editor-in-chief Steve Fowler conducted our long term test programme and was impressed by its comfort, technology and efficiency – but he had one major issue with its exterior styling.BMW iX Facelift

BMW’s iX has only been out a couple years, yet it is already getting its first facelift. While BMW keeps these changes subtly subtle, these updates should suffice to keep this electric SUV fresh for at least another few years before needing replacing altogether.BMW iX Facelift

The 2025 iX will feature brand new headlights similar to those found in the 4 Series, including vertical daytime running lights. Minor updates should also be expected down its sides, and an upgraded bumper could even be in the works.BMW iX Facelift

Moving back, we can see a larger mould for the taillights. While it remains to be determined if these changes will be permanent or simply part of a refresh, one thing is certain – it makes the iX look more aggressive!BMW iX Facelift

Inside, not much has changed with the iX’s cabin; it still features the same 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch infotainment display as before. A few new pieces of trim could possibly be coming, though this remains hard to discern from spy shots alone.

No specific powertrain options have yet been disclosed, but we anticipate the current 74kWh setup being retained – similar to that found on both the BMW i3 and i8 cars – with two electric motors providing around 285bhp in total power output from both motors – giving the iX plenty of oomph against rivals such as Audi Q8 e-tron.

BMW iX Facelift Engines

The BMW iX is the inaugural electric vehicle platform and has proven both critical and commercial success. Drawing inspiration from its inspiration source iNext concept, this battery-powered SUV was developed to meet buyer demands for an efficient yet comfortable drive that can handle challenging A and B roads with ease. Even at its relatively heavy 2.4-tonne kerbweight it remains enjoyable and fun driving – especially its high performance M60 version!

Editor-in-chief Steve Fowler lived with an iX for six months as part of our long-term fleet and found it comfortable, practical, and capable – but also divisive in its exterior design. However, an updated 2026 model should come out next year that may feature visual upgrades alongside subtly modified features under its skin.

One change that we anticipate seeing is a revised grille design that moves away from kidney-shaped openings with tiny rhombs in favor of multiple bars spanning across the front fascia – as BMW does with their M Performance cars – in order to help distinguish this zero emission vehicle from its gas-powered siblings.

Mechanical upgrades could include more power and range improvements, thanks to BMW’s work on new lithium-ion batteries that could double range – something the iX would benefit greatly from incorporating. If it does get this tech upgrade, we anticipate an extremely capable all-round vehicle.BMW iX Facelift

After three years on the market, the BMW iX SUV is getting its first major makeover. A camouflaged prototype we saw revealed modified headlights with new daytime running lights as well as different grille and taillight designs and daytime running light features. Additionally, BMW will likely introduce an illuminated grille lighting option allowing owners to personalize the appearance.

Interior upgrades will likely be minimal, save for some software updates that include the new iDrive 8.5 infotainment interface that enables owners to personalize menus, graphics and voice-activated assistant technology. It comes paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen display and offers optional 30-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound systems; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard as is Wi-Fi hotspot with 5G capability.

Although its controversial styling will always cause controversy, its practicality cannot be denied. The electric SUV boasts an incredible 77.9 cubic-foot cargo space – more than Mercedes EQ E SUV, Rivian R1S or Genesis GV60!

The Hyundai iX comes in both hatchback and wagon styles, making it easier to find one that meets your lifestyle needs. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain offers up to 310 miles of range on a full charge while boasting an estimated EPA-estimated 62 MPGe rating in city driving – outstripping competitors such as Tesla Model Y and Audi e-tron EV in these stats.
