3. Daniil Medvedev
Daniil Medvedev has quickly established himself as an emerging force among his generation, widely seen as a contender to dethrone the Big Three’s dominance. In 2019, he made it all the way to Grand Slam final, took Rafael Nadal all the way in five sets at both US Open and 2022 Australian Open tournaments, and twice defeated Novak Djokovic.

4. Marin Cilic Won the US Open
Marin Cilic made headlines this year by winning his fourth Grand Slam final – before experiencing knee injuries that put an end to that run of success and leading him to defeat Roberto Bautista Agut to win yet another tournament this year at Kremlin Cup and secure yet another victory this year, his fourth for 2016.
At Wimbledon, Cilic made history when he reached the quarterfinals for the first time ever by defeating Paul-Henri Mathieu, Andreas Haider-Maurer, Tomas Berdych and Jeremy Chardy in straight sets.
At the ATP Madrid Masters, he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff and Laslo Djere before reaching quarterfinals at Monte Carlo and Rome during clay court season.
5. Roberto Bautista Agut employs an unassuming style of tennis founded on consistency and precision. A veteran clay courter, Roberto has twice reached Grand Slam semifinals (2019 Wimbledon being one) but never managed to capture victory.
At the Shanghai Masters, he made his Masters 1000 final debut, defeating qualifier Taylor Fritz and Viktor Troicki before falling short against 2015 runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets.
