- Sharmajee Ki Beti
Tahira Kashyap Khurrana’s forthcoming lighthearted film Sharmajee Ki Beti has finally hit theaters. Sharmajee Ki Beti Sakshi Tanwar
Sakshi Tanwar’s performance as Jyoti, an ambitious middle-class woman striving to balance work with family obligations is one of the film’s highlights. Her endearing character’s journey as she strives to balance both roles will leave you laughing.
Divya Dutta and Saiyami Kher are brilliant. Both portray strong women who believe in equality. Furthermore, it’s encouraging to see that neither Kiran’s husband or Kiran herself’s are cast as villains; Kiran’s husband being an example.
Sharmajee Ki Beti is an engaging slice-of-life drama with lots of heart, an honest attempt at addressing issues affecting Indian families today. However, its screenplay overburdens a few parts and leaves you wanting more; perhaps some minimalism would have helped. Sharmajee Ki Beti Arista Mehta
Film may be like old wine in a new bottle and fall back on familiar tropes, but this film should still be watched for its message of feminism: it doesn’t have to be loud and in-your-face but simply prioritising dreams and ambitions.
This trailer explores the hopes, dreams and coming-of-age moments of three women named “Sharma”, Jyoti who struggles to balance career with family life; Kiran who discovers herself after moving from Patiala to Mumbai; and Tanvi who strives towards her cricket dream.
