Ice Universe, an industry insider, recently reported that Samsung would retain the same camera and battery capacities in their next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 6, which came as somewhat of a disappointment since this premium foldable was due for an upgrade.

Storage options should remain at 12/256GB; a 1TB model could also make an appearance.

Screen Indoor Display
Samsung was widely criticized for the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s awkward inner display, so reports from SmartPrix suggest they may make improvements for this year’s model. Based on reports, it seems they may opt for a larger cover screen and more compact inner display compared to its predecessor; and perhaps slimmer frames.

Leaks have also revealed other changes. According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could feature a wider outer screen than its predecessor which will make using landscape mode simpler – another clear advantage over using Fold 5.

An additional report suggests an alternative camera setup for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Rather than offering two separate lenses on its front of device, it will most likely feature just a single protruding lens – giving more of a traditional smartphone appearance when closed.

Other reports point towards specifications similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 5; models will likely feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage with 1TB models also expected. It will run Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6.1 running on top, plus support for AI features of Galaxy AI-powered features will likely be implemented.

Samsung’s book-style foldable phones have long featured similar designs, but it appears Samsung may be taking an unconventional route with its Galaxy Z Fold 6. Ice Universe shared an image showing that some lenses protruding from behind it like they do on Galaxy S24 phones may also protrude from it.

This change may not necessarily be seen as negative; rather, it signals an important departure from Samsung’s previous designs and could be one of the first signs that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will stand apart from its predecessors in significant ways. Furthermore, rumors indicate an upgraded camera may also feature in this device.

XLeaks believes it has identified what appears to be the main camera sensor of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 200MP resolution – an upgrade over last year’s 50MP shooter, giving users access to high-resolution selfies as well as zoomed images of distant objects.

Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will utilize a faster image signal processor to enhance image quality, as well as include a dedicated zoom button to access its maximum optical zoom capabilities. Benchmark listings and reports from The Elec reveal that Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will power this smartphone.

Battery
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 should feature a larger battery compared to its predecessor, which should come as no surprise given that Samsung may be developing new hardware for its foldable display according to FCC filings for something known as Ironflex, according to Dutch tech website Wcibcsemse.com.

This listing does not offer many specifics, but does confirm that Samsung will implement this technology into their Galaxy Z Fold 6 smartphone and may also be developing an innovative hinge system for foldable devices.

Ice Universe reported recently that the Fold 6 would maintain its 4,400mAh battery and support 25W wired charging. Furthermore, its front cameras should remain unchanged with 10MP f/2.2 selfie shooters and 50MP f/1.8 rear shooters respectively.

Rumors also indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will employ a thinner version of Ultra Thin Glass to produce an less-obvious display crease. Naver blogger yeux1122 confirmed this claim and claimed the phone would be lighter and thinner; additionally, durability features like titanium casing or dust resistance capabilities may make an appearance.

Samsung’s foldable phones were already quite costly, and its flagship phone — the Galaxy Z Fold 6 — may prove even more so. Leaks indicate it may cost as much as $2,159 with options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage – not to mention boasting a 4,400 mAh battery and 25W wired charging support – features which may appeal to consumers.

Galaxy AI may make its debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, enabling it to transform sketches into 3D-enhanced images. It will likely be shown off during this year’s second Galaxy Unpacked event – scheduled before Paris Olympics start – scheduled for July.

Due to Samsung’s struggling financial status, reports by The Elec have suggested they may reconsider plans for producing an affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 variant. Rumor has it that such an entry-level device will feature similar internal and external displays as its more costly sibling; however, without S Pen support.
