Shankar’s 1996 cult classic Indian continues the story of Senapathy, an ex-freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights corruption across India. It features larger scale and emotional aspects than its predecessor film.

The story opens with a string of scams and crimes taking place throughout a country, while a woman’s voiceover describes some of their challenges such as heavy taxes and unemployment; giving an illusion of reality in this far-fetched tale; however, its characters lack depth, seeming more like cartoonish caricatures.
