Telangana government has granted film makers permission to increase ticket prices on release day with an enhanced ticket rate of Rs 200 including GST (at 5:30 am).

Yesterday, a teaser for Kalki 2898 AD featuring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan made waves online – it has caused considerable excitement among fans who can’t wait for its June 27 release date!
Telangana state government has given its approval for moviemakers to host early morning screenings of their film on its opening day with increased ticket prices of Rs 200/- inclusive of GST (preview show time 5:30 AM).
According to sources, regular screenings of the film will cost Rs 413 in multiplexes and Rs 236 on single screens without 3D charges, including any benefit shows required by producers.
Many were delighted by the prospect of watching their film so early, while others were dismayed at its high ticket prices. Some social media users felt this would further hurt Telugu industry due to OTT releases; another user added: it would make movies too costly for commoners who may opt for the streaming version instead.
Telangana Government Sixth Show Permission
Telangana state government is going the extra mile to ensure Prabhas’ sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD hits screens with maximum impact. They have granted additional shows and increased ticket prices for the first eight days after its release; showing their immense faith in its ability to draw crowds.
Ashwini Dutt has requested the government for special rates for his movie and it has granted them. Reportedly, distributors will reap considerable advantages as they can quickly recover investments with these rates. It will hit theaters on June 27 and is one of Tollywood’s highly-anticipated releases.
The film boasts an ensemble cast consisting of Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani; its release is projected to break Tollywood box office records due to its star-studded cast and massive budget. Directed by Nag Ashwin (Bharath Ane Nenu was an industry favorite and earned rave reviews), its release will take place across 350+ theatres throughout Hyderabad in a single release – a record for Tollywood. Furthermore, its creators reportedly acquired all premium halls available in Hyderabad in preparation of this grand release event!
Telangana Government Hike in Ticket Rates
Though their film had an extravagant budget, producers remain hopeful of reaping good returns. According to reports, they have sold the rights for this Nag Ashwin-directed feature film to many distributors in Tamil Nadu and are confident of recovering their investment soon. It has quickly become one of the most-anticipated releases in Tollywood and promises to break many box office records when released this May.
To ensure the success of their film, producers have decided to raise ticket rates across the state of Tamil Nadu. To allow this, the government granted permission for this move; one representative from their team shared a photo of the permit showing Vyjayanthi movies are allowed to run a sixth show starting at 5:30 am with an enhanced ticket rate of Rs 200 including GST during its initial eight day run.
Telangana government has taken steps in recent months to foster both state and film industry growth. Known for its lush greenery and abundance of wildlife sanctuaries and forests, in order to encourage ecotourism the state has created several circuits connecting major wildlife sanctuaries and natural reserves together as well as offering numerous types of tourism activities such as adventure sports, heritage walks, cultural tours etc. Telangana government is headed by Governor and legislative branch by Chief Minister/Council of Ministers respectively.
Telangana Government Extra Shows
Telangana government has shown their appreciation of Kalki 2898 AD by providing special screening permissions. This will allow the filmmakers to screen six shows per day starting June 27th starting at 5:30 AM with an increased fee of Rs 200 inclusive of GST (plus regular shows of course).
Producer C. Ashwini Dutt is known to be close with Tollywood director Chandrababu Naidu, which could benefit their film at the box office in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu was responsible for numerous successful movies starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan previously.
One Telugu website recently posted a document, purporting to have been signed by the Telangana State Government, that claimed Mythri Movie Distributors LLP of Salaar Nizam was seeking an increase of Rs 100 for single and multiplex tickets across Nizam and requested six shows starting at 4 AM daily on day one.
This is excellent news for the film as it will significantly boost their revenue and excitement levels among fans, especially since it stars an actor with such an immense fan base in Telangana.
