Leaked photos and information regarding Google Pixel 9 phones has surfaced recently. Expectations include improved cameras with periscope telephoto lenses and a new SoC expected to enhance performance and efficiency.
Russia-based Rozetked has published purported AnTuTu benchmarks which suggest Google’s Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL will all come equipped with its Tensor G4 processor, featuring eight cores instead of nine like its predecessor Tensor G3 version.
Google Pixel 9’s Performance
The Pixel 9 and its larger siblings should offer improved performance over the Tensor G3 SoC found on Pixel 8 phones due to a new processor said to deliver faster multitasking, gaming, and app loading speeds.
Rozetked published images revealing that Google Pixel phones will soon use an 8-core chipset with one Cortex-X4 core dedicated to high performance tasks, three Cortex-A720 cores for intensive workloads and four Cortex-A520 cores for enhanced efficiency – these should all help extend battery life compared to their predecessors.
However, despite these improvements on paper, the Tensor G4 may not be an overwhelming powerhouse; with a lower core count compared to rival processors from Qualcomm and Samsung. This may result in certain apps or games experiencing some form of lag or slower camera processing speed depending on Google’s software optimizations for its new flagships.
Google appears to have responded by offering more RAM this time around to address this problem, giving their Pixel 9 series an increase in performance that should enable it to compete with some of the top iPhone models on the market. Google Pixel 9’s Camera
Since its debut, Google’s Pixel series has set an industry standard when it comes to on-device AI processing. Indeed, its success has caused other smartphone makers to follow its example and with this fall’s launch of Pixel 9 and 9 Pro models expected by many analysts, Google should introduce additional features that push forward on-device AI further than ever.
The Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 SoC is expected to provide significant gains over its predecessor, the Tensor G3. According to reports, it uses Samsung’s 4nm LPP+ technology, which should improve heat resistance for better multi-core performance and lower battery drain – something particularly crucial given that its predecessor, Tensor G3, failed to perform well during an intensive stress test called 3DMark Wild Life.
Rozetked recently leaked a benchmark image indicating the Tensor G4 will feature a core configuration consisting of one Cortex-X4 running at 3.10GHz, three performance Cortex-A720 cores working at 2.60GHz, and four efficiency Cortex-A520 cores working at 1.95GHz.
This has translated to an approximate single-core score of 925,000 in the GFXBench 5.2 test, an improvement over its predecessor’s 10-million mark. Google Pixel 9’s Design
Recent Pixel 9 rumors have hinted at its ability to provide a comprehensive Google Assistant experience, with features like its telephoto lens and revamped camera island that removes its edge-to-edge visor look and is fully flat. Furthermore, Samsung Modem 5400 will support faster wireless connectivity and satellite messaging services.
If reports prove true, Tensor G4 chipset will bring significant performance gains over its predecessor. Based on Samsung’s 4nm process and using FOWLP for better heat management, this new silicon should handle AI tasks more efficiently and bring significant increases in performance compared to its predecessor.
Leaked benchmark results reveal that Pixel 9 phones will score up to 1,071,616 points on AnTuTu, slightly surpassing their predecessor, the Pixel 8, which scored approximately 9,000. Reportedly, the Pro XL model will be the top performer with an AnTuTu score of 1,176,410 points.Google Pixel 9’s

Google Pixel 9’s Pricing
The Pixel 9 series is widely expected to include some impressive AI enhancements. One significant upgrade, however, could be Google Tensor G4 chipset. Leaked AnTuTu benchmark scores are quite impressive; they are a good measure of balanced performance that should provide sufficient power for everyday tasks and processing power for AR apps.
Comparable to the Cortex-X4 cores on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Tensor G4 offers more efficient design with three Cortex-A720 cores and four smaller Cortex-A520 cores compared to Cortex-X4. Arm promises 15% performance improvement and 40% better power efficiency with this processor.
Though the Tensor G4 chip looks promising, we may need to wait up to two years before seeing it on a Pixel phone and seeing how it compares with competition.
Leaks indicate that the Pro XL model will feature 16GB of RAM compared to 12GB in the regular Pixel 9. TSMC may take on fabrication duties instead of Samsung’s System LSI and Foundry facilities, which could make for an interesting shift.
